Swiss Alpine Spikemoss (Selaginella helvetica)

10.00

While this particular spikemoss has not yet garnered an English common name, its species name, helvetica, refers to the mountainous area of the European alps comprised mostly of Switzerland, Austria and Northern Italy.  We have referred to it here as "Swiss Alpine Spikemoss" since Selaginella helvetica is quite a mouthfull!

This delightful spikemoss flushes brilliant sunset colors throughout the season as it responds to variations in sunlight and moisture.  Sunnier, drier conditions will cause it to flush tones of red, orange, and mahogany, while cooler, more moist weather will revive it back to green.

Frond Condition: Evergreen

Mature size: 1-2" tall forming a creeping mat

Origing: European Alps

Cultivation information: Some sun, part shade, shade, moist to dryish but prefers good drainage.
