This handsome, glossy species of Japanese Holly Fern gets its latin name from the sharp, pointed apical pinnae that grace the tip of each frond and arch gracefully downward. Its pronounced lobes are much sharper, longer, and narrower than on most Cyrtomium species, giving it a very dramatic pointy look. This particular species is extremely glossy on both new and mature growth, making it quite eye-catching in the shade, and giving it a positively brilliant glow when illuminated by filtered evening or morning sunshine.
