This tropical Pteris sports a pair of winged, bi-pinnate (twice divided) basal pinnae, while the other sets of pinnae are once divided and line an elongated, lance shaped rachis. New growth emerges a bright red color, fading through ocher and yellow tones until they harden off to a lustrous green, often retaining some burgundy coloration along the veins and midribs.
