Fluffy Ruffles Boston Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata 'Fluffy Ruffles')
Fluffy Ruffles Boston Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata 'Fluffy Ruffles')
This aptly named form of Boston Fern has foliage that is lacier and more finely divided than typical strains of N. exaltata. The pinnules are consistently twisted , giving each frond a depth of 3-dimensional “fluffy” character rather than splaying out on a flat plane like so many other Boston Ferns. This form is not as large as others, staying at a somewhat compact 1-2’. The fine foliage is excellent at trapping moisture and with dense bushy specimens excessive overhead watering can cause frond rot along the center rachis, so we recommend watering this one at the base when possible. As with other Boston Ferns, it prefers to dry out in between waterings and does not mind being pot-bound.
